Spring "Drill into ARSA-SA" Workshop

The "Drill into ARSA-ST Workshop" was held at St. Joseph's Hospital, Hot Springs, on Saturday, April 12, 2008.  Our guest speakers were Dr. Robert Olive and Stryker Representative Corey Bruce.  Chris and Bob Kuhn were also on hand to instruct in our "Sawbones" lab.  A big THANK YOU to each one for giving up their time and an extra thanks to Stryker for sponsoring the event.

There were  25 attendees who traveled from Fort Smith,  Bentonville, Hot Springs, Little Rock, and North Little Rock,, and 8 ceu's were earned.

A special welcome is extended to the South Arkansas Community College, El Dorado, whose first ever class of Surgical Tech students attended the workshop along with their Program Director, Keitha Davidson,

Our speakers covered a variety of topics including fracture fixation and implant options for the hip and lower extremities, an overview of the AxSOS locked plating system,  the Gamma3 nail, and the VariAx distal radius locked plating system.

Stryker reps Corey Bruce, and Chris and Bob Kuhn  very helpful during the hands on lab.   If you have never attended a sawbones workshop with Stryker,  you are really missing out.  It is a great opportunity to learn the assembly of the instruments and actually use them in a relaxed environment without the doctor breathing down your neck. . . . and it's a lot of fun too!

Breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snacks were provided courtesy of Stryker, and of course we had door prizes and a 50/50 drawing.

We learned a lot, ate a lot, played a little, and enjoyed sharing ideas and stories with our peers.

The following are just a few of the photos showing the attendees and the fun we had:
